HIJAB SAGA: Ilorin Emirate youths tell Gov. Abdulrazaq what next to do
Following uproar on the controversial use of hijab by school pupils in schools in Kwara State, the Ilorin Emirate Youth Development Association (IEYDA) has urged the Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq-led government to take extraordinary steps at finding lasting solutions to the menace.
The group that such measures will further avert reoccurrence of such ugly incident in the nearest future, ROYAL NEWS reports.
IEYDA also commended the state government for taking proactive measures by summoning a stakeholders’ meeting as well as ordering the immediate closure of affected schools.
The National President and the National Publicity Secretary of the group, Alhaji Abdullahi Babatunde Salaudeen and Alhaji Mohammed Uthman Jagunma respectively in a statement issued on Saturday expressed their disappointment with the turn of things amongst the two religions’ adherents in the state especially on the current hijab crises in some schools in the state.
The statement declared that, “Kwara is a State of Harmony which further confirmed the way Muslims and Christians have being cohabiting peacefully for years. Whomever that is fueling the hijab crises in schools in the state wants religious crises and does not mean well for Kwarans.
“We hereby call on both Muslim and Christian leaders in the state to play key and peaceful roles by putting the matter to rest once and for all. Peaceful co-existence in the state is non-negotiable and we youths would slug it out with anyone who tries to sow the seeds of discords or fuel religions crises in the state.”
