The National President of Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU), Alhaji Abdulmumini Ayo Abdulmalik, has expressed profound sadness following the news of the death of the Chairman of the National Hijrah Committee and Imam of Maimasa Mosque, Oja-Gboro, Ilorin, Prof. Badmas Olanrewaju Yusuf.
Alhaji Abdulmalik, in a statement signed by the Union’s Spokesperson, Mallam Suleiman Shuaib Dagbo, said that the death of Prof. Yusuf, about two weeks after the demise of the Chief Imam of Ilorin, Shaykh Muhammad Bashir Saliu, has thrown Ilorin community into another season of mourning.
The President, who described Prof. Yusuf as a patriot and hardworking scholar, recalled the glowing career of the deceased and its impact on the peace and progress of Ilorin.
Alhaji Abdulmalik said that Prof. Yusuf always left remarkable milestones everywhere he served since his graduation from the University of Ilorin in 1982.
He said that Prof. Yusuf’s tenure at the Kwara State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, the Kwara State College of Arabic and Islamic Legal Studies, Ilorin and the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria(NAHCON) as well as the Dean of the Postgraduate School, University of Ilorin would remain evergreen.
Alhaji Abdulmalik sympathised with the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, CFR,His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kwara State, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and the entire people of Ilorin, particularly his wives, children, relations, friends, students and mentees.
The President prayed to Allah to forgive his shortcomings and reward his good deeds with Aljanat Fridaous as well as grant all those who are bereaved the fortitude to bear his demise.
