ISWAP Kill Hunters’ Group Chairman in Borno’s Damboa

Date:

Suspected members of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) have killed the chairman of a hunters’ group in Garjang village, Damboa Local Government Area, Borno State.

Security analyst Zagazola Makama disclosed the incident on his X (formerly Twitter) account on Monday.

According to the report, the attack occurred around 5 a.m. on Sunday when 53-year-old Habu Dala was abducted from his home by the militants.

The assailants reportedly took Dala through Mulharam to Forfot villages in Damboa, where his body was later found by local residents. He had sustained multiple gunshot wounds.

Troops from Operation Hadin Kai, together with members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) and the hunters’ group, visited the scene following the discovery.

Dala’s body was transported to the General Hospital in Damboa, where he was confirmed dead before being released to his family.

He was buried according to Islamic rites.

The incident underscores ongoing security challenges in northeastern Nigeria amid continued insurgent activity in the region.
