JUST IN………KWIRS generates N6.6billion in 3months

The management of the Kwara State Internal Revenue Service, (KWIRS) has generated the sum of N6.6 Billion between the month of January and March this year.
ROYAL NEWS gathered that this figure represents 100% increase over what the agency generated into the coffers of the state government within same period last year.
The chairman of KWIRS, Dr. Muritala Awodun disclosed this in Ilorin, the state capital on Wednesday during the quarterly media interaction with newsmen.
He, however,said that part of the money was used by the government to augment the payments of workers salaries because the dwindling federal allocations .
Awodun said that N500million is being deducted monthly from the generated revenue for infrastructure development.
He similarly said that N100million was generated for the 16 local governments by his agency in three months, an amount he claimed the councils generated in a year before KWIRS took over.
He also disclosed that modalities are being worked out for effective implementation of the five-year tax holiday declared for small and medium businesses owners by the State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed.
