Kwara govt gets 15-day ultimatum from health workers
The Kwara State Government has been issued a-15day ultimatum by the Coalition of Health Sector Unions (COHESU) in the state over non implementation of new Consolidated Health Salary Structure (CONHESS) table of 2019, shortage of health workers, among other related matters.
ROYAL NEWS gathered that members of the Coalition are; Medical and Health Workers Union of Nigeria (MHWUN), National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives (NANNM), Pharmacists, Community Health Union and the Medical Laboratory Scientist across the state.
This is contained in a statement signed by Kwara State Chairman of COHESU, Comrade Muritala Saheed Olayinka and the Secretary Comrade Markus Luka and made available to the media on Tuesday.
The statement reads: ” The COHESU after a roundtable meeting have resolved to issue a 15 days ultimatum to the state government as From 9th November to Midnight of 29th November, 2021 should the state government failed to address Non-implementation of new CONHESS table of 2019, shortage of health workers both in the local councils and state government and privatization of medical laboratory technicians.
” In light of the above issues we want action taken to avoid a looming indefinite strike that will paralyzed the health sector.
Meanwhile the union appreciated Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq for his open door policy and swift move since the inception of his Administration in terms of general Development especially the health related sector.
” The Coalition wishes to applause your effort the issues of upgrading of the hospitals, construction of roads, handling of the Covid 19 pandemic, prompt salary payment in both state and local councils and also creating a peaceful atmosphere in the state.
