Kwara will harness resources to provide support to biz owners— Commissioner

The Kwara State Government has reassured the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) that it would continue to collaborate with the Association so as to foster transformation, policy formulation and implementation in the Manufacturing sector.

The Kwara State Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, who doubles as the Chairman, Nigeria Governors’ Forum, said this in a speech delivered at the 9th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Manufacturers Association of Nigeria, Kwara/Kogi Branch, held at MAN House, Ilorin.

The Governor, who was represented by the Deputy Governor, Mr. Kayode Alabi, revealed that MAN has been faithful to its mission of promoting the interest of Manufacturers through partnership with Organized Private Sector, Government Bodies and other Stakeholders, for the development and prosperity of the State economy.

Gov. AbdulRazaq assured the Association and other relevant Stakeholders of the present administration’s support and partnership at all time, while welcoming ideas that will further promote the State economy.

In her speech, The State Commissioner for Business, Innovation and Technology, Hon. Damilola Yusuf Adelodun, commended Gov. AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and MAN for transforming the State’s ideology from being a Civil Servant State to an Industrial Hub through the support and grants given to the Industrialists and other potential Enterpreneurs in Kwara State.

Hon. Damilola further described the role of the State Government in tackling some challenges facing the Association and other relevant Stakeholders through harnessing the State resources to provide enabling environment and giving finacial support to the business owners in the State.

The Commissioner disclosed that the State government is funding various projects to create job opportunities for the teaming youths and support Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, which include: the Garment Factory, proposed Ifelodun Industrial Park, Visual Arts Centre, Sugar Factory Film Studio, International Conference Centre, Shea Butter Factory, Agro Processing Zone, among others.

Earlier, the National President, Manufacturers Association of Nigeria, Otunba Francis Meshioye, represented by the Chairman, KAM Holdings, Alhaji Kamoru Yusuf, commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR and Gov. AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for the reform measures and the proposed industrial park, meant to ease the affairs of Industrialists across the State.

The President said that the Association’s AGM is geared towards examining and appraising the activities of previous years; and engaging with the relevant State and Federal Government Bodies as well as other Stakeholders on policies and issues affecting the sustainability and growth of the manufacturing sector in Nigeria and Kwara State in particular.

Otunba Meshioye assured that the Association will continue to partner with the State government, soliciting for the State government to key into the Federal Government’s Executive order 003 on patronage of Made in Nigeria Products.

In his goodwill messages, the State Chairman, Kwara/Kogi MAN Branch, Pharmacist Abdulrahman Bioku, appreciated the Governor and the Commissioner, Kwara State Ministry of Business, Innovation and Technology for answering the calls at all time as well as maintaining a robust synergy between the Association and the State Government.

Pharmacist Bioku therefore asked for government’s consideration on the issues of Multiple Taxation so that members of the Association can work on their own without recourse to relevant laws that would compel them to adhere to taxes imposed on them, appealing for prompt assistance in this regard.
