French President Emmanuel Macron and his centrist government are due to meet to discuss ways to combat radical Islam in Paris on Wednesday.
They will review a planned law that aims to “strengthen republican principles.’’
They aim to combat radical Islam where young people are vulnerable, at particular mosques, outside of school and online.
Macron announced the new law in October, as he vowed to clamp down on Islamist separatism after a series of attack that claimed the lives of more than 250 people.
Earlier in October, schoolteacher Samuel Paty was beheaded by a suspected Islamist after showing controversial cartoons of the Islamic prophet Mohammed to pupils in a class on freedom of expression.
His murderer boasted about the killing on the internet and wrote that the teacher had disparaged the prophet of Islam.
