Date:

At least three people have been confirmed dead, with numerous others injured and properties worth millions of naira destroyed, following an attack by suspected Fulani militia in Gwon-Rim village, Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State.

Residents reported that the assault occurred on Wednesday morning when over 50 heavily armed gunmen stormed the village, firing indiscriminately. The attackers reportedly set houses and vehicles on fire, looted shops and food barns, and stole livestock, forcing villagers to flee into nearby bushes for safety.

Hon. Sati Bature Shuwa, chairman of Riyom LGA, confirmed the incident after visiting the community to assess the damage. He condemned the attack as unprovoked and unacceptable, urging residents to remain calm.

Shuwa further assured that security operatives have been directed to track down the perpetrators and bring them to justice. He also visited the injured at a local hospital, reiterating his administration’s commitment to protecting lives and property in the area.
