The Emir of Makama Gado Da Masun Zazzau, Amb. Shehu Bamalli has called on other African Countries to emulate the ways of Benin Republic in Nigeria, to ensure a robust bilateral relationships.

The Emir, gave the call at the official investiture of its new president in Abuja, saying that stronger bilateral relationships between Nigeria and other African countries is what royal fathers are always longing to see.

“I thank the federal republic of Benin for honouring me to be here as a royal father. It is something that we royal fathers have been longing to see this relationship the other countries are been amended. So we are urging other countries to emulate the Beninese republic.

” It is of importance for African countries to strengthen their relationship, as it is the only way through which other things can fall in place. So we are praying that other countries would emulate Benin especially African countries,” He said.

The Governor of Gombe State, Alhaji Inuwa Yahaya, who was represented by the Commissioner for Special Duties, Barr. Mela Nunghe, said friendship has no measure, as it is characterised by a lot of advantages, hence the need for other African countries to strengthen their relationship like that of the Beninese residents in Nigeria.

The Governor also said the friendship between Nigeria and Benin Republic, and by extension Gombe State, would no doubt bring about peaceful cultural coexistence which can not be over emphasized in bringing development to either a nation or a state.

” Friendship has no measure and today’s event is friendship for us in Gombe state with the Beninese community. Here is friendship to bring about development in our state.

“Our state is a jewel in the savannah and it’s one of the most peaceful state in the Northeast, and all the crises you hear in Northern Nigeria is not in Gombe state. We embrace the friendship to invite the artisans, the builders, the Plaster of Paris experts to come to Gombe and patronise, and in return they will get employment and we would get our jobs done.

“I have travels far and wide, Ghana, Cotonou, Togo Gambia, etc and I know the quality of work done their, and they are of concrete, than the ones we have here. I know the quality of concrete , and I know it would put food on the table if they trained most of our youths . you will not at the end of the day be able to define where this friendship will lead us to,” said the Governor.

The President, Union of Beninese Residents in Nigeria (UBEN), Honore Hounkpatin call earlier in his acceptance speech appreciate President Muhmmadu Buhari for the six months amnesty program for illegal immigrants to get their documents, as well as sensitizing the Beninese community to comply.

He noted that it is the wish of UBEN that Nigeria and Benin Republic live in harmony, peace and understanding, as well as establish Nigerian institutions with ties of frank cooperation for the happiness the Beninese population living on Nigerian soil and for the Nigerians living in Benin.
