Members of the Labour Party (LP) and People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Imo State have pleaded with the President of the Court of Appeal, Hon. Justice Monica Bolna’an Dongban-Mensem, to save them from the alleged plot by Governor Hope Uzodimma of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to pressure the appellate court to declare his party’s candidates winners of all the House of Representatives seats in the February 25 elections.

The parties in a statement jointly signed by Barr. Kenneth Uzor and Chief Uzo Amuchie alleged that APC in the state was plotting to pressure the Appeal Court to uphold their plan of hijacking all National Assembly seats from the rightful winners.

They advised the A’Court President to remain vigilant on Imo State election petition cases to avoid the court being used by desperate people who seek to do the unthinkable and tarnish the sanctity of the judiciary.

They expressed confidence on the National Judicial Council (NJC) Secretary and President of Appeal Court to ensure that Imo appeal cases were watched closely so that desperate politicians don’t ruin the integrity of the court.

The statement reads, “At the weekend we were alerted of boasting by chieftains close to Uzodimma who were celebrating over the weekend over the news of their principal alleged meeting and visit to the secretary of NJC in Abuja and that all is being done to pressure the Appeal Court to uphold all the wrong and unacceptable anti-people election robbery affirmation judgement delivered in Imo.

“We call for investigation of the source of information which APC members in Imo are celebrating that they have sorted the Imo case and justice will be denied the LP and PDP members and even the little ones they won will also be taken away.

“We are optimistic that the president of Appeal Court and Secretary of NJC will ensure that the public fear and anxiety over the plot to rig Imo election appeals are neutralized and the faith of the public restored.”
