The Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo, on Tuesday 1 August 2017 nominated Dr. Ayinla Saadu Koroagba Alanamu, an itinerant international scholar, as parts of the new team of the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission, ICPC.
Prof. Bolaji Owasanoye will steer the affairs of the anti-graft agency for next five years with 13 other members whose tenure is for four years, subject to confirmation by the Senate.
As part of the new formidable anti-graft actors, Dr. Alanamu is a man of vision with intellectual capacity, a reformer and accomplished tutor. Dr. Alanamu has bagged many awards and recognitions for his gargantuan contributions to health, sports, youth activities, environmental sanitation, religion, education, politics and social development. He was a recipient of the award of National Association of Kwara State Students (NAKSS) Kwara State College of Education, Ilorin Chapter in May 1998. Dr. Alanamu, no doubt is a man with versatile academic laurels, having written several books and presented papers on different topics in conferences, seminars, symposia and lectures. In 2003, he produced two standard textbooks in titled: i) “Introduction to Comparative Religion” ii) Islamic Banking: Theory and Practice. In 2005, he edited an anthology titled: “Issues in Political Violence in Nigeria”. He has published over 70 articles in learned journals and books, both locally and internationally. His areas of writing and research include inter-faith dialogue, national integration, terrorism, corruption and ethno-religious conflicts.
As a strong believer in the principles of humanitarianism, egalitarianism and justice coupled with his wealth of experience,  Dr. Alanamu and his co-team in the academic and public sector, may just be the joker the Buhari administration has been waiting for to strengthen the anti-corruption crusade. Perhaps, under the watch of the new Chairman Bolaji Owasanoye, erudite professor of law, ICPC will not only bark but may begin to bite.
All those who have a stake in ICPC, have a stake in providing necessary support to this anti-graft agency in eliminating or transforming demented acts of corruption from all spheres of Nigeria life while the efforts of the Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo in nominating a destabilised and dogged anti-corruption fighter Dr. Saadu Alanamu as part of the new ICPC team, should be applauded and appreciated by all well-meaning Nigerians.
