Police confirms murder of FUT Minna female lecturer, Dr. Adefolalu Funmilola

The spokesman of the state police command,in Niger State, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, has confirmed the death of a female lecturer with the Federal University of Technology, Minna, Dr. Mrs Adefolalu Funmilola.

ROYAL NEWS reports that the varsity don was on Sunday morning found slaughtered in her room in the Gbaiko area of Minna.

He said,” 0n 29/10/2023 at about 1000hrs, some friends of one Dr. Mrs. Funmilola Adefolalu, a lecturer at FUT Minna visited her residence in Gbaiko Area of Minna due to inability to get her on the phone and unfortunately, on getting to the house, the visitors met her lying in a pool of blood with marks of injury on her body.

“Two knives with blood stains suspected to have been used to stab her by unknown person(s) were recovered from the scene.

“The body was taken to IBB Hospital, Minna where she was confirmed dead. The unfortunate incident is under investigation”, the PPRO declared.

According to some residents, the late varsity teacher’s husband – who was a professor in the same school – had passed on.

She was seen lying in a pool of blood in her residence in the Gbaiko Area of the town.

The sad incident was confirmed to Channels Television on Sunday by the chairman of the school’s Academic Staff Union of University, Prof. Gbolahan Bolarin.

Bolarin narrated that the deceased lecturer’s body was discovered when her church members traced her home after she was not seen during service.

According to the report, some residents who forced the door to her house open met the deceased lying on the floor.

Sherifat’s body was later moved the body to the mortuary by police operatives.

Until her death, she was staying with a female house help but laid off the girl on Friday, they added.
