Senate confirms three more electoral commissioners

Senate fixes March 1 to vote on report of constitution review
Senate has confirmed the appointment of the three remaining President Bola Tinubu’s nominees as the Resident Electoral Commissioners, RECs, who were absent at the screening of others on Wednesday.
The electoral commissioners are
Bunmi Omoseyindemi (Lagos), Anugbum Onuoha (Rivers) and Isma’ila Kaura Moyi (Zamfara).
Confirmation of their appointments was announced by the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio after they were screened on the floor of the Red Chamber by the Committee of the Whole.
During the screening, Mr Omoseyindemi said he will introduce innovation and strategic planning in the electoral process.
“I observed that people have low apathy for elections. I will collaborate with the INEC chairman to embark on massive election education.
“Before we can have an election, people must participate. I have conducted two elections that the opposition won and they were given their certificates.”
Omoseyindemi also said he is a traditional medical practitioner.
The electoral commissioner said he studied traditional medicine at the University of Ibadan.
He also stated that he attended College of Nursing, University of Lagos.
Omoseyindemi also said he established a medical facility in Lagos State, southwest Nigeria.
He explained that he belonged to different medical associations including World Health Organization traditional medicine.
On his part, Moyi, the electoral commissioner nominee from Zamfara explained that he is married to four wives.
He said he obtained his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree from Usman Dan Fodio University, Sokoto.
Moyi noted that he served as Chairman of a Local Government in Zamfara in 2011 before he was appointed as special adviser to former governor of Zamfara, Abdul Aziz Yari.
He also said he served as Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs in Zamfara.
Onuoha, the nominee from Rivers State, said he is an associate Professor of Law after obtaining his Bachelor’s, Masters and Ph.D from the Rivers State University.
