Authority of the University has produced 130 First Class graduands out of the total number of 12,009 graduating students for the 2018/19 academic session.

Others according to him are; 5,661 Second Class Lower Division, 1,392 Third Class and 31 Pass, 76 MBBS graduands, 48 graduands in Nursing, 33 graduands in Pharmacy and 16 in Veterinary Medicine.”
“For emphasis, the total number of higher degrees to be awarded at this occasion is 1,710. This figure comprises of 155 Postgraduate Diplomas, 929 Masters from various faculties, 384 MBA/MPA/MILR/MGIS/MPH/MHPM and 242 PhDs.”
A Social Entrepreneur and Philanthropist, Alhaji Yakubu Gobir, on Thursday urged government at all levels to adopt policy frameworks that will eradicate the persisting poverty and the alarming rates of unemployment.
Gobir in a statement signed in commemoration of the International Day for Poverty Eradication of Poverty, noted that government particularly in Africa, should endeavor to ensure that a larger percentage of their budgets is devoted to agriculture which is the only way to ensure food security.
He further appealed to Nigerian government to shift from total dependence on oil and diversify by encouraging Small and Medium Scale Enterprises, stressing the need for government and well meaning individuals to empower the poor as well as artisans and small business owners to get them out of the high rate of poverty which according to him , is alarming and has invariably led to insecurity.
It would be recalled that Gobir, had through his NGO, Gobir Organisation Foundation in collaboration with some Nigerian banks empowered thousands of women traders in Kwara state with interest-free loans to boost their trade in order to alleviate poverty.
He also urged all tiers of government and well to do citizens to join hands to empower families, especially women and youth who are the most vulnerable, so that the cycle of poverty is eradicated.
Gobir added that “wealthy Africans and Nigerians in particular should come together to respect the human rights and dignity of the people living in poverty, it is crucial that children who are the leaders of tomorrow are well looked after.” READ ALSO:Group tasks NASS on alleged corruption in Nigeria’s criminal justice system
He however commended the school feeding programme of the Federal Government and urged all states of the federation to emulate the programme as it is the right of every child to live a life that is free of misery for their physical, mental, spiritual, moral and social development irrespective of their race, religion and abilities.
He therefore attributed the high rate of crime globally to poverty, hence the need for government and various political leaders to quickly address the menace.

Residents of Oke-Foma phase III in the Ilorin West local government area of Kwara State has appealed to the state government to assist the community with transformer in order to curb the current power outage affecting them.
ROYAL NEWS gathered that the community which is composed of no fewer than 3000 households is in total blackout for some months.
A statement signed by stakeholders in the community, Hon. Tunde Mohammed and Hon. Ologbomoso, appealed for government’s quick intervention towards solving the menace of erratic power supply in the community.
He however disclosed that efforts have been made in the past towards intimating appropriate government agencies in the past in order to facilitate replacement of the faulty transformer in earnest.
Barrister Salman Jawondo—- Asa Local Government Area
With 29 years of post-qualification experience as a lawyer, Jawondo is almost synonymous with the longstanding struggle to change the political status quo in Kwara with his numerous court cases and advocacy to challenge what he considered the anti-people decisions of the previous administrations.
Barrister Jawondo is an alumnus of the University of Lagos where he read Law between 1986 and 1989. He was at the Nigerian Law School between 1989 and 1990. A disciplinarian and no-nonsense lawyer, he is a member of the Legal Practitioners’ Disciplinary Committee in the North Central Zone and was Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Ilorin Branch, between 2009 and 2011. He is the founder of the Jawondo &Co., Legal Practitioners. He is from Asa Local Government Area of Kwara State.
2. Lafia Aliyu Kora Sabi — Baruten Local Government Area
A former chairman of Baruten Local Government and a grassroots politician, Aliyu Kora Sabi has a Bachelor’s degree in Education (Guidance and Counselling), PostGraduate Diploma in Public Administration and Masters degree in Public Administration from Universities of Ado Ekiti and Ilorin, among others. He taught in various schools and served as a senior administrative officer in his Baruten local government for nearly two decades. Sabi, who was born in 1970, is from Yashikira town of Baruten Local Government area of the state.
3. Dr. Raji Razaq— Ekiti Local Government Area
Born in 1979, Raji Razaq is the Medical Director of the Comprehensive Health Centre Agwara, Agwara Local Government Area of Niger State. A polyglot, Dr Razaq attended the University of Ilorin for his Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery between 2000 and 2006; the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ife, for his Master in Public Health between 2015 and 2017. He was the NYSC Chief Medical Director, Kebbi State Camp Clinic in 2007 and an aspirant for the House of Representatives in Ekiti/Oke Ero/Irepodun/and Isin Federal Constituency. He hails from Osi in Ekiti Local Government area of the state.
4. Architect Aliyu Mohammed Saifudeen—- Kaiama Local Government Area
Architect Saifudeen hails from Kaiama Local Government area of Kwara State. He holds a Bacherlor’s degree in Architecture and Master of Science in Architecture — both from the University of Jos between 1993 and 1999. He is a member of the Nigerian Institute of Architects (NIA) and Architects Registration Council of Nigeria (ARCON). Saifudeen has worked with various local and multinational firms in his area of expertise, including French-owned Bouygues Nigeria Limited where he was Assistant Design Manager; Lebanese Sageto Limited where he was Project Coordinator; and Crushed Rock Industries Nigeria Limited owned by Germans. He is the Managing Partner at Constyle Services Limited; Chairman of Fiasminat Limited; a partner at Kab Development Services. Saifudeen is an accredited resource person with the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) and a member of the Education Sub-Committee of the Nigerian Institute of Architects.
5. Murtala Olarewaju— Oyun Local Government Area
Murtala Olarewaju is a grassroots politician, an administrator and a teacher. He attended Federal College of Education Kontangora for his National Certificate of Education; Kwara State Polytechnic for his Higher National Diploma; and Ladoke Akintola University for his Master in Public Administration. He also has Teacher Grade II Certificate from New Bussa Teachers College Niger State. He taught at various schools between 1982 and 1998. He was an administrative officer with the Kwara State Local Government Service Commission between 1998 and 2017. He retired as Deputy Director of Administration in 2017. Olarewaju hails from Ijagbo town in Oyun Local Government Area of the state.
6. Wahab Agbaje (Whyte)—- Offa Local Government Area
A successful businessman and administrator, Wahab Agbaje (Whyte) holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Ladoke Akintola University. He also bagged High National Diploma in Accounting from Kwara State Polytechnic and National Diploma in Accounting from Federal Polytechnic Nasawara. Agbaje is the Managing Director of Whyte and Associates Nigeria Limited. He is the Community Representative of the Governing Council of Federal Polytechnic Offa. A senior member at the Institute of Diplomacy and Conflict Management, Agbaje has had at least 12 years experience in educational and business administration, conflict resolution, agriculture, revenue mobilisation, construction and contract negotiations. Whyte, as he is fondly called, has been a grassroots politician since 1990. He was a member of the Contact and Mobilisation Committee for President Muhammadu Buhari Campaign Organisation (2018) and Director of Contact and Mobilisation Committee of the AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq Campaign Organisation (2018). Agbaje was National Vice Chairman of the defunct All Nigeria People’s Party (ANPP. He was elected state chairman of the party in 2006. He was also councillor-elect Shawo South West Ward, Offa Local Government in 1996.

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Abuja, Professor Abdulrasheed Na’Allah is currently at the Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, India, to seek collaboration on research and scholarship.
Speaking on Thursday, the VC assured the authority of MSU of his readiness to partner and ensure that exchange of ideas, research and scholarship take the front burner of the new relationship.
He however presented a copy of one of his works titled: “Ilorin o”, a literature of song of praise to the management of the varsity.

The crisis rocking Kwara All Progressive Congress, APC, seems to be taking a new dimension that a real party loyalist, most especially those that risked their lives and worked tirelessly to ensure the party took over the control of the governance in the state from the former Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki in the last general elections are praying not to go.
Although, all that is happening in the party at moment seems not to be new to political analysts, due to the ways and manners the primary elections were conducted without producing a unanimous candidate for the party.
It would be recalled that many of those aspirants during the primaries were laying claims to the victory of the election most especially, Professor Shuaibu Oba AbdulRaheem, who was boasting of having results of that election and he was leading other candidates in many polling units before it was suddenly stopped half way.
The choice of direct primary by the party itself was believed to be programmed to fail, given the peoples’ views, considering how cumbersome it could be. It eventually turned out to be true for it not provided the clear winner.
Nevertheless, the party is expected to give glory to God and the spirit of sportsmanship displayed by Hon. Mashood Mustapha and Mallam Salihu Mustapha who had every opportunities to endanger the chance of the party to have a candidate in the governorship election, due to the way the duo was unceremoniously disqualified at the early hour of the primary through a broadcast from Radio Nigeria, Idofian.
Should one of the duo decided to take the disqualification up at the law court, the party would have lose out totally in putting forward a candidate for the governorship election, just like what happened in River State, where APC, could not present a governorship candidate for the last general election.
Thanks to the National Chairman of the Party, Comrade Adam Oshiomole and other National leaders who quickly appealed to the duo and issued them apology letters on behalf of the party and probably promised them something better at the federal level.
All contestants finally shield their swords after declaration of Alhaji AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq as the winner of the primary bowing to the anointed candidate from The Presidency and National leaders of the party.
APC eventually defeated a force that has been dominating the state Politics for sixteen years, with well-rooted structure across the political wards in the state, in all the elective positions that contested. This was made possible by coming together of all the political gladiators across the state that were opposing Bukola Saraki Political system, they all jettisoned their personal interests and deployed resources in favoured of APC and all their candidates to ensured they come out victorious.
AbdulRahman finally swore-in as the Executive Governor of the state with the hope that he would operate an all-inclusive government by carrying everybody along.
Now, AbdulRahman is fully in position of authority and many see him as someone they must please and do all sort of things for in order to secure his favours in terms of political patronage, like; appointments, contracts and many more.
But, His Excellency needs to realise that it is too early for his government to be giving some people attention on their destructive move to destabilize the party that worked for his victory. By deceiving him that he must hijacked the party structure and made his loyalists executive of the party from state chairman to all the 16 local governments. Is it because of 2023 or what?
It all started like a rumour, until Ilorin South party Chairman was removed from office in an unceremonious manner, despite, the warning from the State Working Committee to all the party members across the state to follow the party laid down procedures in removing their chairmen or other executive members that must have committed one offense or the other.
After that, some people were also alleged to be gathering signatures of vote of no confidence on the state chairman of the party, Hon. Bashir Omolaja Bolarinwa in all sixteen local governments, and some party stalwarts alleged that those people were being sponsored by the Governor AbdulRahaman, which many also doubt the allegation, and said the people behind such moves are attention seekers and sycophancies that only looking for ways to get Governor’s attention.
Although, a source close to the Governor made it known that, AbdulRahman is not the one behind all the moves by some people trying to replace some party leaders at the local government levels. Which I want to share the same sentiment too, because, to me, it’s politically unwise for Governor that emerged on the love of majority to now start premature politicking against 2023 without any tangible achievement to point to yet as a Governor.
However, in a statement released by the state, APC, chairman, Bashir Omolaja Bolarinwa recently, stated that, “ In the aftermath of the wanton and reckless removal of Party officers by a congregation of disgruntled, selfish and attention seeking elements in the party, those involved must desist from perpetrating unconstitutionality and discord within the party”
“Decried a situation where one would labour to build a house and be hell bent on destroying same”
He stated further that “those who have murdered sleep would no longer find peace, as all the organs of the party would no longer condone such recklessness and activities inimical to the growth and unity of the Party through the application of appropriate sanctions”
He, however, declared as null and void, all suspension of officers embarked upon without due diligence and as laid down by the party’s constitution.
The above statement from number one party man in the state and many more stories is a pointer that all is not well within APC, in kwara.
There were also a lot of secret complaints by some party gladiators that they are not being carried along in the constitution of the cabinet and governance of the state by the Governor.
Although, the Governor was claiming that he was ready to set a standard in Kwara politics, departed from outgone government that was alleged of fun of sharing public funds to please few politicians in the state with little left for capital projects, which many believe is a good development too. But His Excellency must equally know that party members should not be totally sidelined too because, many of them also invested heavily in the election that produced him and such people deserved to be given a sense of belonging in the governance of the state.
It is however expected that His Excellency should carry Politicians along, most especially the experienced ones, as a Governor, he already had the plan of how he wanted to develop the state.
His appointees either politicians or technocrats as they are usually called are only coming to carry out his vision plan, and I believe they would mostly need sincerity of purpose from Governor not be compromised.
In conclusion, hard earned political liberation, many Kwarans believe to be enjoying at moment must be well-managed and judiciously guided.
His Excellency must know that the political future of one time opposition members largely lies in the outcome of his administration. Moreover, it is time to prove to the people that he has what it takes to cut the shot in the state.

An Area Command Headquarters of the Nigeria Customs Service, (NCS), has been established in Kwara.
ROYAL NEWS reports that this follows the approval of the Comptroller General of Customs, Col. Hammed Ali (rtd) for its creation in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.
It was gathered that the decision was done in continuation of the transformation agenda of the federal government.
Spokesperson of the command, Mrs. Zakari Chadu, in a statement issued on Tuesday noted that the NCS management has unbundled and created additional Commands to enhance administrative convenience, boost revenue generation of the service and effective coverage of the nation’s borders.
“I wish to inform you that Kwara State has been given full autonomy of a command. It was carved out of Niger/Kwara/Kogi Area Command.
“The Command will henceforth be called and addressed as Nigeria Customs Service, Kwara Area Command, Headquarters, Ilorin, Kwara State.
“Comptroller HB Ahmed fsi has been posted as the pioneer Customs Area Controller and he has since assumed duty”, the statement reads.
A parallel body called Congress of University Academics (CONUA), has emerged from the Academic Staff Union of University, (ASUU) with the sole aim of effecting some changes in the system.
The union, which started at OAU, has as its members at Ambrose Alli University Ekpoma, Federal University Oye Ekiti, Federal University Lokoja, Kwara State University Malete and University Ilorin.
ROYAL NEWS gathered that members of the new union noted that they left the ASSU in order to redefine unionism and restore peace and stability in the universities in Nigeria.
The national coordinator of the new union, Niyi Ismaheel, disclosed this during their first national stakeholders meeting held at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, recently.
Addressing journalists, he said the union was formed in order to formulate a new approach of engagement in addressing the welfare of its members and put to an end to the unnecessary wasting of student’s academic time as a result of frequent strike action.
In his reaction, the Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, said that the union had not been registered. He said: “We have not registered them yet, their application is in the ministry, it has not been treated. We will look at their application, I’ve asked a committee to look at it.”
