President Bola Tinubu has extended condolences to Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi following the death of his father, Sunday Ndidi, who reportedly died in a road accident on Tuesday in Umunede, near Agbor, Delta State.
In a statement released by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President described the death as tragic and expressed sympathy with Ndidi and his family. He highlighted the strong bond between Wilfred Ndidi and his father, who served as a mentor throughout the footballer’s career.
Tinubu praised Sunday Ndidi’s modest beginnings, honesty, and the positive impact he had on those who looked up to him for inspiration. He also prayed for comfort for the Ndidi family and eternal rest for the deceased’s soul.
Sunday Ndidi, a retired military officer, was involved in a traffic accident and was confirmed dead after being rushed to a hospital in Agbor. The circumstances of the accident are still under review.
Leicester City, Ndidi’s club, also confirmed the incident, expressing deep sadness over the passing of their player’s father and sending condolences to Wilfred Ndidi and his family.
