UNILORIN don commends VC on security measures at SPS

The Director of the School of Preliminary Studies (SPS), University of Ilorin, Prof. M. A. N. Adeboye, has commended the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Sulyman Age Abdulkareem, for the excellent security measures put in place at the School.

Prof. Adeoye, who gave the commendation on Monday said that the security arrangement has increased the safety of lives and properties of students and staff of the School.

The Director emphasised that with the present solid security architecture, the School has successfully built a cordial relationship with the host community to ensure conducive accommodation for the students and staff of the School.

He also noted that members of the host community should be given preference when there are job openings, so as to keep them engaged positively; emphasising that the School believes that when such benefits are extended to the community, the host community will join hands with the School management to ensure maximum protection of their hosts.

Prof. Adeboye added that as part of the strategies taken to ensure students’ security, all students are to be indoors latest by 8.00pm, stressing that programme to educate them on security tips has also been put in place.

Appreciating the University authority for the rehabilitation of the link-road from the main campus to the School, the Director also called for quick completion of the road with adequate security measures such as stop-and-search, and erection of security posts at the entrance of the University, the middle and at the entrance of the School.

The varsity don also called for a cross barricade on the road so as to regulate vehicles coming into and going out of the School’s premises as a way of preventing illegal entrance.

The Director, however, revealed that arrangements are being made with UNILORIN COMSIT to get all the students to register for JAMB examinations so as to enable them get admitted easily.
