UNILORIN executes 82 projects in 5yrs

No fewer than 82 projects have been executed by the University of Ilorin by the Professor AbdulGaniyu Ambali-led administration in the last five years, ROYAL NEWS has gathered.

While academic calendar was also uninterrupted during the period, the University produced 89 first class degree graduands cutting across the different departments for the 2016/17 academic session.

These among others were the five years stewardship delivered on Friday at a press briefing by the outgoing Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Abdulganiyu Ambali, as part of activities marking the commencement of the 33rd convocation ceremonies.

The event which was held at the university auditorium was well attended by members of the university community as well as the Vice Chancellor designate, Professor Sulyman Age AbdulKareem. According to the VC, “over the years, the university has embarked on scores of projects. Among them are;

“Faculty of phase III, (Microbiology) building, Faculty of Pharmaceutical sciences complex, Unilorin water project complex, College of health sciences skill acquisition laboratories, renovation of university of international secondary school, 2000-seater multipurpose hall complex, faculty of education complex, department of material and metallurgical engineering building, central research laboratories building, researchers’ lodge, several parking lots and Lecture theatres for faculties of agric, law, education, physical and life sciences.”

Others according to the VC are; “Unilorin business school complex, geological resort centre at aran-orin, workshop for the faculty of engineering and technology, physical planning units building, medical assessment centre, lecture halls for the faculties of management science, education and engineering and technology, faculty of arts complex, sit-out for students in various faculties, faculty of science  (phase IV and V), department of optometry and vision science project, veterinary teaching hospital complex, hostel for college health science and NLNG engineering research centre” among others.

He however commended the university management for supporting him in the administration of the institution in the last five years stressing that, “since 2013, Unilorin has remained the most subscribed institution in Nigeria.
