UNILORIN VC, Wahab Egbewole mourns late Elerin
The Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, has joined thousands of mourners in commiserating with the people of Erin-Ile in the Oyun Local Government Area of Kwara State over the demise of their traditional ruler, Oba Abdulganiyu Ibrahim Ajibola Olusokun II.
Prof. Egbewole, in a statement signed by the institution’s Director of Corporate Affairs, Mr Kunle Akogun, described the death of the royal father as a colossal loss not only to the people of Erin – Ile but also to Kwara State and the nation at large.
The Vice Chancellor recalled the glowing contributions of the first class monarch to the peace and progress of the community and Kwara State, which earned him the national honour of the Member of the Federal Republic (MFR).
He added that the monarch’s 41 years’ reign was very eventful in the annals of the community, saying that it brought massive physical and human capital development to the town.
Prof. Egbewole condoled with the Governor of Kwara State, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq; the Emir of Ilorin and Chairman, Kwara State Council of Chiefs, Alhaji (Dr) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, CFR and members of the Oyun Traditional Council, of which the late Elerin waa Chairman.
The Vice Chancellor also sympathised with the entire people of Erin-Ile, particularly staff and students of the University of Ilorin who are indigenes of the town, on the death of their revered royal father.
Prof. Egbewole urged the royal family and tge entire Erin-Ile community to take solace in the fact that the traditional ruler lived long and reigned well, leaving behind visible legacies of unprecedented communal achievements.
The Vice Chancellor prayed Allah to overlook the shortcomings of the departed monarch
and grant his soul peaceful repose.
