Coalition of Civil Society Organisations for Justice and Equity, CCSO-JE, has said that the fight against corruption by the present administration “is effective among Nigerians as many are now conscious of their integrity with great reduction in lawlessness and impunity”.

The organisation, also noted that “Nigerians now have more regards for labour, high reduction in flamboyancy and unethical expenses, clear reduction of inflation, auditing of some key federal government (income) generating agencies, leading to discovery and blocking of loopholes with attendant effects of increase in our income generation”.

These, according to the chief convener of CCSO-JE, which is the umbrella body of many organisations with kin interest in good governance, justice and equity or all, Comrade Olayemi Success, were some of the indices used by the organization to draw its conclusion.

Olayemi, while speaking to journalists at a press briefing on Tuesday in Abuja, said the CCSO-JE has passed a vote of confidence on President Muhammadu Buhari, affirming him as “a true, sincere and committed anti-corruption champion” in the country.

He therefore called on all eligible voters to massively re-elect Buhari as the President during Saturday’s election, saying “this will comfortably consolidate the achievements of this government for the progress and development of our nation”.

“Nigeria’s image has improve greatly among the international community, especially as President Muhammadu Buhari has been identified as a true anti-corruption champion as appointed by the Africa Union, AU.

“This has given birth to the willingness of many countries to do business with Nigerians and invest more in Nigeria. The respect and trust in our leaders by the western world is high, hence, the reason for the repatriation of some looted funds back to our economy”, he stressed.

Olayemi recalled that President Buhari, after the inauguration of his administration promised to focus on the fight against corruption, security and economy, pointing out that the first one is the major prerequisite to achieve the others.

The group leader noted that the President was able to be achieving success in his fight against corruption by possessing integrity, honesty and abounding will which he said were the major ingredients to win such war.

He listed some of the achievements recorded through the war against corruption as the full enforcement of the Bank Verification Number, BVN; Treasury Single Account, TSA; securing the conviction of some politically exposed person, recovery of many looted and abandoned funds via the whistle blowing policy, among others.
