COVID 19: ARD commends Olam Coy. for donating PPE
The Olam Group of companies has donated Personal Protective Equipments (PPE) worth N1 million to the Association of Resident Doctors (ARD), University of Ilorin Chapter (UITH).
Dr Olosunde Lanre, who commended the gesture while receiving the PPE, described the action as humanitarian and timely.
He said: “on behalf of the entire members of the Association of Resident Doctors, University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital, we hereby acknowledge and accept your generous and very thoughtful donations to us in the face of this COVID-19 pandemic.
“The provision of these personal protective gears would definitely go a long way in empowering us and protecting us as front-line health workers in Kwara State as we confront this scourge head on.
“Your core values of partnerships, stretch and ambition further inspires us, and we look forward to forging lasting partnerships even beyond this COVID-19 period,” he said.
Olosunde also urge other companies, nongovernmental organisations philanthropists and individuals to also help protect doctors in the front line against COVID-19.
The President disclosed that any organisation or well to do individual who wishes to donate PPE to ARD-UITH can reach them through the hot-spot number 08075211844 on how they can be of help in this regard.

Speaking also, Mrs Uduak Eweka, the Human Resources Manager of Olam Group of Companies, explained that it was alarming that health workers were being exposed and affected with COVID 19.
“Olam decided to reach out on what can be done to help protect our health workers,” she said.
She noted that initially the company was involved in distribution of palliatives to different communities in Kwara but felt the need to extend such gesture to the front line health workers.
She observed that all hands must be on deck in the fight against COVID 19, adding that nothing is too small and that everybody has a role to play in Nigeria to fight against the disease.
Eweka disclosed that Olam is also reaching out to other companies and philanthropists to get them onboard by donating PPE for protecting the frontline health workers from COVID 19.
“COVID 19 has affected every sphere of human lives, be it education, health, religious and business,” she said.
