FG partners Foreign Coys on effective commercialization of R&D products

As part of efforts towards strengthening the ongoing commercialization of Research and Development Products in the country, the Federal government has signed a Memoradum of Understanding (MoU) with three international organisations.
ROYAL NEWS reports that the deal was signed between the Federal Institute of Industrial Research, FIIRO, an agency under the auspices of the Federal Ministry of Science and Technology, and Tiger Foods Limited, Lensof Konsult as well as Lashone Links Limited on commercialization of indigenous R&D breakthroughs on food seasonings and ready to use traditional soups.
At the event, the Minister of the Science and Technology, Ogbonnaya Onu, assured the organizations of ministry’s continuous supports to sustain the economy on a path of sustainable growth and development.
He also restated the commitment of the Buhari-led administration towards strengthening the economy through promotion of innovative technologies that will further reduce import dependency, enhance local content and strengthen self-sufficiency.
According to the Minister, “We want to be more focused in exportation rather than importation. We are ready to support any indigenous entrepreneur with the necessary research and development to enable us grow. We want to be able to create wealth and employment for our people.”
Also speaking, the Director-General of FIIRO, Mrs. Gloria Elemo, stressed that the institute is poised on its mission statement to conduct market driven R&D for socioeconomic development of the nation.
This, according to her, The institute took advantage and leveraged on due to the increasing needs for convenience food products needed in Nigeria to upgrade the institute’s R&D and package them in form of ready for immediate commercialization.
“Effective commercialization of indigenous research and development, will help the country to recover from the current economic recession.”
“In the process of commercialization of indigenous technologies, more jobs will be created, wealth will be generated, foreign exchange will be conserved and national GDP will be enhanced through the productive sector of the economy”, she added.
