Only way to put stop to banditry is to kill them all— El-Rufai

Based on the current situation in the country that related to banditry issues, Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State has said the only means to put a stop to banditry in Nigeria is to eliminate them all.

He continues by saying the military should storm forests, locate where bandits stay, and bomb the whole place to kill them.

He made this statement at a dialogue tagged: “Financing safe schools: Creating safe learning communities” in Abuja, yesterday.

El-Rufai added while saying that all governors of the North have agreed that bandits must be wiped out without hesitation.

He said: “As the governor of the northern states, we are fully prepared because we all met with the president on this matter, and our unanimous position is to eliminate all the bandits.

“To achieve our aim, we must go into these forests; because there is no innocent living in that forest so, we can end it once and for all.”

However, the governor also explained that the military needed sophisticated weapons to fight those bandits and wipe them out.

He added that we needed both land and air powers to fight the bandits; also, we need troops on the ground augmented by local expertise and knowledge.

“We need about two to three months to operate and kill all the bandits. This is the chance and way to stop all this because as long as these bandits are being paid, it will remain a business.

“So we have to be fast with the plan and ensure we wipe them out, and he added that what you see is the coordinated action with airpower, use of drones.”
