Tricyclist crushed to death In Anambra

A Tricycle driver was on Sunday crushed to death in a fatal road traffic crash that occurred at Nawfia by Awka-Enugu expressway at about 9.00am.

The acting Public Education Officer of Anambra State Sector of FRSC, Margaret B. Onabe (DRC) disclosed this in a press release.

Onabe said that the crash involved twenty people compromising twelve male adults and eight female adults.

The FRSC Education Officer noted that three other persons sustained varying degrees of injuries while the tricyclist lost his life in the crash.

She pointed out that the cause of the fatal crash was attributed to wrongful overtaking (WOV).

Onabe said that an eyewitness said the driver of the Ford Transit enroute Awka overtook the truck wrongfully and rammed into the Tricycle enroute Onitsha in a single carriage way and crashed.

Three vehicles according to her were involved in the Sunday morning crash.

The victims, she noted were rushed to an undisclosed hospital before the arrival of FRSC rescue team from Awka Sector Command while the personnel managed traffic and ensured obstruction caused was cleared.

The Anambra State Sector Commander of FRSC, Adeoye Irelewuyi (CC) while sympathizing with the families of the dead victim, wished the injured victims quick recovery.

He urged drivers to watch and ensure the road is clear before overtaking and that traffic rules and regulations must be obeyed always.
