The Emir of Ilorin and Chairman Kwara State Traditional Council, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari on Wednesday recieved reports of the 2018 annual Durbar festival from members of the committee.
Th committee was led by its Engr. Yahaya Alapansanpa, who paid the monarch a courtesy visit in his palace.
Alhaji Sulu-Gambari expressed appreciation and satisfaction to the committee for organizing a beffitting and historic 2018 durbar even as he offered special prayers for members of the committee.
He further assured that he would do everything possible to sustain the cultural event and praised the committee for their accountability and transparency throughout the epoch making event.
The emir however enjoined all sons and daughters of the Ilorin Emirate to join hands with the committee to ensure a hitch free future celebration adding that the durbar event has come to stay.
The monarch used the opportunity to appeal to the people of the emirate to continue to love one another and ensure meaningful development of the community and cautioned youth against all forms of social vices.
“The event would further bring the people of the emirate under one umbrella and work towards the unity of the ancient city”, he said.
Earlier, the chairman, main committee of the event, Engineer Yahaya Alapansanpa informed the emir that preparations have commenced in earnest in ensuring the 2019 durbar activities and therefore solicited for the support of all sons and daughters of the Emirate for the forthcoming durbar which is close by.
Lola Ashiru’s plans for 200 tourists revealed
The Senator Representing Kwara South at the National Assembly, Sen. Lola Ashiru will be sponsoring about 200 tourists to three tourist’s attractions in Kwara south next weekend. They are Owu water fall, Esie museum and imole boja rock shelter.
This was disclosed by the Chief Executive Officer of Ankara Tours and Afzal Travels, Hajia Yetunde Jatto during a chat with this medium on Wednesday.
The Entrepreneur who led a delegation to the lawmaker recently stressed that the Senator has agreed to sponsor 200 tourists to the tourism centres in the state.
According to her, ” The need to develop infrastructures around tourist attractions in Kwara state to boost revenue generation amidst dwindling oil revenue and to create more employment opportunities in the state.
“Our Senator, a lover of people will be sponsoring 200 tourists to three tourist attractions in Kwara south, Owu water fall, Esie museum and imole boja rock shelter on 26th of October 2019 organized by Ankara tours.”
Jatto further stressed that aside job creation among the teeming youths tourists centres can also be used by various communities, organisations to discuss vital issues for the progress of the society at large.
She emphasized the lawmaker is interested in the revival of tourism in the state to create awareness on potentials of tourist attractions and introduce more champions in tourism.

SAD… Oldest living creature in Ogbomoso, 334yr-old tortoise dies
The people of Ogbomoso especially the royal family and the Soun of Ogbomoso, His Royal Majesty, Oba Jimoh Oyewumi, are currently mourning over the death of the 334 years old tortoise.
Popularly called ‘Alagba’, the tortoise is believed to be the oldest living creature in Ogbomoso town.
The mysterious tortoise was until its death an inhabitant of the palace of Oba Jimoh Oyewumi.
