LGs Poll Update: Baraje casts vote

Voters turned out peacefully in many polling booths in Ilorin the Kwara State capital to cast their votes for candidates of their choice as Kwara conducts local government election.

Our correspondent learnt that voting started as schedule by 9 am while voters queued for simultaneous accreditation and voting.

Security personnel were stationed at strategic locations in Ilorin to forestall breakdown of law and order.

Officers and men of the Nigeria Police, Army, Civil Defense, Immigration and FRSC were also stationed at polling booths to maintain order.

A chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress ( APC), Alhaji Abubakar Kawu Baraje, who voted at Baboko ward 1 at about 12.20pm, expressed satisfaction at the conduct of election.

Speaking with journalists after casting his votes, Baraje said turnout of voters for the election was equally impressive.

He however expressed optimism that APC will come out victorious at the end of the exercise.

ROYAL NEWS gathered that the State Governor, Abdulfatah Ahmed voted in his home town Share at about 9.40am.

Governor Ahmed who commended the State Electoral Commission for the smooth conduct of the election expressed satisfaction at the turnout of voters and security arrangement provided by officers and men of the Nigerian Army, the Police, Civil Defense and Immigration.
