Ronaldo Slams Critics of Félix Transfer

Date:

Cristiano Ronaldo has hit back at critics questioning João Félix’s decision to join Al Nassr.

Félix completed a £26m move from Chelsea to the Saudi Pro League side this summer, with the deal potentially rising to £43m. The transfer sparked debate in Portugal and abroad, with many questioning why the 25-year-old opted for the Middle East at the peak of his career.

Since arriving in Riyadh, Félix has made an immediate impact, scoring a hat-trick on his debut and adding an assist in five appearances.

However, Portuguese podcast Chuveirinho this week criticized the forward’s choice, arguing that leaving Europe so early could derail his career.

Ronaldo, who himself has been a trailblazer for European stars moving to Saudi Arabia, came to his international teammate’s defence on Instagram.

“Idiots don’t understand anything about football, yet they still give their opinions,” the 39-year-old Al Nassr captain wrote.
