Twelve (12) Staff of the Kwara State Ministry of Water Resources have been presented with commendation letters by the Ministry for their outstanding performance in the effective discharge of their responsibilities.

Honouring the awardees at a ceremony held at the conference room of the ministry yesterday, Commissioner for Water Resources, Hon. Usman Yunusa Lade stated that the event was organised to recognise the outstanding staffers for their diligence and commitment to duty.

The Commissioner explained that the award was also meant to encourage them and other staff to always perform their duties with all sense of responsibilities, dedication, and professionalism.

Lade, who appreciated every staff member for their unalloyed support and cooperation since his assumption of office, also used the opportunity to welcome suggestions that will further move the ministry to greater heights.

Earlier, the Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Christiana Omolola Asonibare, who briefed the participants on the purpose of organising the event, said that it was to appreciate those staff who had performed credibly well in the year 2023.

Asonibare described the event as a day of reckonning for a job well done for the awardees, adding that others who could not be recognised during the period under review should endeavour to brace up in the current year.

In his closing remarks, the Director of Water Engineering Services, Engr. Yusuf Wopa hinted that for the past decades, an event of this nature had never been organised in the ministry.

He thanked the Commissioner and his management team for bringing this laudable initiative to life, which he said would help to boost the morale of staff.

He noted that the management will come up with a strategy to train and retrain staff in order to surmount the emerging challenges of global competitiveness.

Speaking on behalf of the awardees, Mr. Sanni Ibrahim, a staff of Water Corporation and also an awardee, thanked the Commissioner and the Ministry for finding them worthy of recognition.

Ibrahim assured that they will continue to be dedicated staff and put in more effort to ensure that the Ministry excelled in its statutory responsibilities.
