The Kwara State Command of the NSCDC confirmed the arrest of a suspected kidnapper at Isale Asa, in the Opomalu area of Ilorin, Kwara State capital.

The suspect, 37-year-ol, was apprehended while attempting to abduct some pupils coming from school in Ilorin at about 1 pm on January 11, 2024.

It was gathered that the suspect who claimed he saw the victims on their way back from school and asked them to help him buy dry fish was proved wrong by a discreet investigation, which clearly showed that the suspect forcibly changed the direction of the children from their normal route in an attempt to kidnap them from school.

It was added that the suspects would be soon charged to a court of competent jurisdiction, the state sector command had earlier reported that, “it apprehended two suspects over the alleged production and sale of expired energy drinks. The suspects were also alleged to have printed fake expiry dates on expired energy drinks and sold them to unsuspecting consumers in the state.

The Kwara State Commandant, Umar Mohammed said, “the anti-vandal unit of the command arrested the suspect at the Amilengbe area beside Ipata Market in Ilorin, the state capital, following the intelligence report gotten by the command.”

Mr. Ayoola Michael, who represents the command Public Relations Officer added, “On interrogation, Anafi (of the suspects) confessed that he began the illicit business with Mrs Susan (another suspect) who has been the business owner since 2023 and said they were actually into the business of printing fake expiry dates on Vita Milk Energy products.”
