The Abia State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has arrested four suspects for operating an illegal refinery in the state.

The state Commandant, Usman Alfadarai, said the arrest is “a major boost in the overall fight against all forms of illegal refinery, vandalism of critical national assets and infrastructure, illegal dealing in petroleum products and related economic sabotage against our nation, Nigeria”.

He further stressed that, as a result of 48-hour surveillance, his men were able to make the arrest within and around Obiakpu, Obuzo-Asa, in the Ukwa West area of Abia State.

“This remarkable move comes barely one week after I took over as the Abia State commandant is a strong warnings and signals to the vandals to either turn a new leaf or relocate from the state as the corps will not leave any stone unturned in fighting the enemies of the Nigerian economy to operate.” Alfadarai said.
